After her residency, Dr. Sessums spent two years practicing in Colorado and another seven years at the Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group in New York. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep passion for refractory epilepsy, brain tumor treatments, and spinal surgery. She is particularly excited about emerging medical advancements, including new treatments for granulomatous meningoencephalitis (also known as meningoencephalitis of unknown etiology), novel anticonvulsants, and advanced surgical approaches to the spine.
Outside of work, Dr. Sessums enjoys spending time with her daughter, tending to her indoor plants, visiting Hawaii, and reading. Her house is filled with two dogs, seven cats (although she doesn’t admit to being a crazy cat lady yet), and one happy, fat hampster. An avid marathon runner, Dr. Sessums has completed the Boston, New York City, Chicago, and Houston marathons, among many others. She has also recently completed eight full Ironman Triathlons, demonstrating her commitment to endurance and perseverance in all aspects of life.
