Dr. Ashley Kerley grew up in Allen, Texas, where her passion for animal care and veterinary science blossomed through her involvement in FFA. Her experiences showing sheep and competing in veterinary science and agriculture issues competitions shaped her early career aspirations. It was during Tarleton State University’s CDE Invitational that she discovered what she fondly refers to as “the best-kept secret in Texas.”
From 2012 to 2015, Dr. Kerley was a member of Tarleton’s prestigious Presidential Honors Program while earning her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. After five years working in various mixed and small animal general practices, she uncovered her true calling in emergency medicine while working as a veterinary technician in Abilene, Texas.
Dr. Kerley further honed her expertise in emergency and critical care as an ICU technician at Texas A&M University’s Small Animal Hospital while completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from 2017 to 2021. She began her career as a full-time emergency clinician at a 24/7 ECC facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area before relocating to Houston in June 2023.
Her professional interests include one-on-one critical care case management and tackling complex internal medicine cases. Outside of work, Dr. Kerley loves traveling the world with her loved ones and doting on her 90-pound “teddy bear,” a dog named Remington.
