Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists Partners with Corridor Rescue to Help Gunshot Victim, Arty, Find His Forever Home
Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) has teamed up with Corridor Rescue to help a brave dog named Arty, who is recovering from gunshot wounds and looking for a loving forever home. Arty, was first discovered in early October 2024 by Corridor Rescue’s Street Feeders, and was found lying on a discarded mattress. After vanishing for a few days, he was found again, and it was clear something was seriously wrong.
X-rays revealed that Arty had been shot three times, with injuries to his chest and front leg. The gunshot wounds had shattered his ulna, caused fluid accumulation around his heart and chest, and left him in critical condition. GCVS stepped in to provide medical care, devising a treatment plan to address his injuries.
Arty’s story caught the attention of local media and was featured on FOX26 Houston, showcasing his journey from street survivor to a fighter under the care of GCVS. You can view the spotlight HERE.
Currently, Arty is recovering at Corridor Rescue’s kennel, where he is undergoing treatment for a heartworm infection and awaiting a recheck to assess the healing of his front leg. Despite his past trauma, Arty is a vocal and friendly dog, eagerly greeting visitors at the kennel and showing his playful personality. He is now looking for a foster or adoptive home where he can continue to heal and thrive.
Thanks to the collaboration between GCVS, Corridor Rescue, and Houston-based photographer, Robyn Arouty, Arty’s story has gained widespread attention.
